Musical director vacancy

Our founding Musical Director, Gary Skyrme, is retiring from this role in the summer of 2025. So, we are on the lookout for his replacement.

Could this be you?

We're looking for an enthusiastic musician with a passion for community music to lead the choir into its second decade, to build on the successes of its first ten years and create exciting new opportunites for the choir's dedicated singers.

You'll have a love of singing - and music in general - and a desire to enable amateur musicians to achieve amazing results.

A bit about us

You will be joining an established choir with a real sense of shared community. Members of the choir soon become friends.

We offer a growing musical library, with a commitment for purchasing and licensing the scores.

Our rehearsal venue in the centre of Batley is comfortable, with excellent rehearsal acoustics and a good quality digital piano.

The choir either owns or has access to Yamaha PA equipment, a pair of handheld radio mics and a power source for performing 'off grid'!

Remote rehearsals

We're REHEARSING online!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Batley and Birstall Community Fund, we have bought some equipment to allow us to stream some of our rehearsals. This will enable anyone to dip into a live practice and join in. We hope this will be particularly valuable to current members who are unable to make it in person, but also to allow prospective members to take a glimpse of what we're like!

This is very much an experiment, and we will start using Google Meet.  If you'd like to join us, the link is https://meet.google.com/ocz-wwak-mvi?pli=1.

It's totally up to you if you want to use your camera, and we'll ask you to mute during the rehearsal as there's always a delay with online meetings!

Summer Harmonies proceeds announced

AMAZING NEWS FROM SUMMER HARMONIES

We are delighted to tell you that our recent Summer Harmonies concert with Wakefield Orchestral Wind raised around £570 for the MS Society.

Thank you to everyone who came to support us, bought raffle tickets and donated. We are truly grateful.

Charity for 2024

We are delighted to announce our chosen charity for 2024.

We asked members to suggest a charity that has provided (or does currently provide) support to them, a friend or familiy member.  The committee discussed the suggestions and decided to support the Huddersfield and Kirklees branch of the MS Society.
